Thrillers That’ll Keep You Up at Night
1) Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
This book made me crash out. When the big reveal happens, I literally screamed. I did not see it coming at all, but it is possible to figure out, which is my favorite type of thriller. Highly recommend!
2) My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing
While I think you could guess the ending of this one from a mile away, it was still an overall thrilling read. Some of the details genuinely terrified me, and the storytelling style kept me hooked. I wanted more from the wife’s perspective, but even with a sorta predictable twist, it was a fun ride.
3) Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
I really enjoyed the bulk of this book. The ending was surprising but believable, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a solid, well paced thriller.
4) The Fury by Alex Michaelides
I went into this with mixed expectations because I had not heard the best things, but this book just proves you should read things for yourself. I ended up really enjoying it. The writing style is unique, the narrator is interesting, and the twists never stopped coming. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try.
5) Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
Super fun and cheeky read! It’s clever, witty, and had an ending I absolutely loved. A great mix of humor and mystery that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but is also a bit of a scary read.
6) Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister
I really enjoy this author’s writing style. I love how her mysteries focus more on suspense and emotional complexity than on gruesome details. Every times I’ve read her work, I completely failed to guess the ending. Definitely read this one (maybe with the lights on).
7) The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
The beginning and middle of this book had me hooked, I was constantly trying to guess where it was going. The twist isn’t really something you can piece together on your own, which took away from the payoff a bit. Still, it’s a compelling and emotional read worth checking out.

8) House of Frank by Kay Sinclare
A comforting story about a witch grieving her sister’s death. I listened to the audiobook and found it relaxing and whimsical, with talking lions, tiny flying pixies, and purple half-witches. It’s a great cozy fantasy for fall.
9) Do Your Worst by Rosie Danan
The only romance on the list, I really enjoyed the book, it’s got humor, romance, and a hint of magic. I wish there had been more spooky moments, but it has ghosts!. Still, it’s a fun read with great banter and a touch of paranormal flair.
10) Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid
I devoured this story. A dark, empowering retelling of Lady Macbeth’s tale, full of magic, power, and haunting atmosphere. It’s a gripping and feminist reimagining that I couldn’t put down. Highly recommend!
