10 Before the End: Books I Need to Read Before the Year Is Over
Somehow we’re already nearing the end of the year, and my TBR is still massive and larger than last year. So, I’m challenging myself to finish 10 specific physical books before December 31st. Some are ones I’ve started, some I’ve been putting off, and others I’ve been dying to get to all year. Here’s my list:
1. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
I started this one months ago but never finished, and I need to get back into it. I love the world and characters, so it’s time to finally see how this installment plays out. I also stood in line for hours to get this book signed, and saw Rebecca Yarros discuss the book live. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to it yet.
2. The Sirens by Emilia Hart
Weyward was one of my favorite reads, so I’ve been dying to dive into Emilia Hart’s next story. I’m expecting more powerful women, lush writing, and maybe a touch of magic. I have had the arc for this since April and I am so disappointed I haven’t made time for it yet.
3. A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft
My book club read this one (at my recommendation, no less), and somehow I’m the only one who hasn’t read it yet. That definitely needs to change soon. I have heard amazing things and I love Allison Saft’s writing, I have just been slammed by books lately.
4. Blood Over Brighthaven by M.L. Wang
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book and except it to be a 5 star read. I am so excited and have heard this book is emotionally devastating.
5. Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
One of my most anticipated releases this year and somehow I didn’t get to it during summer like I planned. TJR always nails complex emotions, so I’m excited to finally read it.
6. Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors, and I already know this one will wreck me in the best way possible. I have read the first couple pages but after reading some lack luster reviews I got worried. However one of my biggest reading rules is to read things for myself.
7. Katabasis by R.F. Kuang
I’m both nervous and thrilled for this one. Its very long and I have heard its complex. However I fell in love with the first few pages I had time to read and I do not plan on letting this one sit on my shelf for too long.
8. The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino
This one has such an intriguing premise and a haunting atmosphere that feels perfect for fall reading, its also a book I was given an arc of and I have been so excited to pick up.
9. The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
I’m so late to this one. Everyone says it’s heartwarming and wholesome, so I’m saving it for when I need a cozy, feel-good read.
10. First Time Caller by B.K. Borison
I’ve enjoyed all of B.K. Borison’s other books, so I’m excited for something new and hopefully just as sweet and comforting as the Lovelight series.
