My Bookish Bucket List
While there are many reading goals I hope to accomplish in my lifetime, and some I wish I could achieve, like reading every book I could possibly want to, these are the top 5 things on my bookish bucket list.
1) Go to a Waterstones in person
Waterstones is a bookstore with locations mainly in the UK, with a few in mainland Europe. I love their editions of books and order from them often. However, as an American shipping is pricey, and I've never been able to browse the shelves in person. That’s why my number 1 reading bucket list item is to go to a Waterstones in person and get the whole experience.
2) Go to a large book event like Yallfest or LA Times
I have always wanted to attend a large book event, and my top two are Yallfest or the LA Times. While admission to these book festivals is usually free, or not too pricey, I’m sure I would pick up lots of books and need to travel and stay somewhere. Thus, I haven’t attended a large-scale book festival yet. However, I dream of meeting authors, finding new books, and meeting bookish friends, and am very excited by the prospect of attending a book festival.
3) Meet my top authors
On the same note as literary festivals, I am very eager to meet my top authors. While authors usually tour after a book release, it's not always very widespread or long. Certain authors never tour or haven’t in years. My top authors are authors like Sarah J Mass, Stephanie Garber, and Rebecca Yarros who have huge followings and whose signings sell out in minutes. One day I hope to be able to get signed copies of their books in person and meet the person behind the magic.
4) Participate in a social readathon
While I am known to do a readathon alone in my house on the weekend, I always thought it would be fun to do one with other bookish people. A readathon is just a lot of reading at one time, sometimes with activities every so often to break it up. A readathon can last a few hours, to a whole day or longer, and is often hosted by book clubs or libraries. I think the idea of some dedicated reading time while being somewhat social sounds like the perfect bookish thing to participate in.
5) Reread some books
As mentioned above, one of my reading goals is to read every book ever. With that said, I have a very hard time going back to reread books that I have already read. I would love to go back and visit some of my favorite stories and characters. I just need to set aside some time to do so. I often see it as a waste, because I already know what happens and I want to be reading new stories, but rereading can be a great way to learn even more about the world and pick up on things I missed.
So, while some of my bucket list items are to go in person to certain places, and others are to take time to reread or read more, these are the top 5 things I want to do on my bookish journey.
