There’s just something about festive small towns, forced proximity, and sweet holiday chaos that makes December reading feel extra magical. Here’s a look at the Christmas books I’ve loved in past years, and the ones I’m excited to pick up this season.

Big Nick Energy by Morgan Elizabeth
If you want something quick, spicy, and hilarious, this is the holiday romcom for you. Morgan Elizabeth leans fully into the chaos in the best way possible. It’s playful, a little unhinged, and exactly what I needed when I just wanted to laugh my way through a December evening.
I’ll Get Back to You by Becca Grischow
This book sits perfectly between heartfelt and feel good. It’s emotional enough to pull you in, and screams comfort read. Its not nearly as spicy as the other ones, and it focuses more on thanksgiving time, but its still the perfect holiday read. I loved how it explored connection and timing, with just the right amount of holiday sparkle.
Second Chances in New Port Stephen by TJ Alexander
I’m always a sucker for a second-chance romance, and this one is tender, warm, and surprisingly healing. TJ Alexander brings so much heart to these characters, and the festive backdrop makes it feel even sweeter. This one is also less of a spicy book and more of a feeler. It features a trans main character, which I loved, and just does a great job showing what the holidays are really about.
Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey
Tessa Bailey doing a holiday romance is exactly the chaotic, spicy energy you think it is. It’s messy, loud, and festive in a great way. The chemistry is undeniable, and the holiday setting only cranks it up. A perfect pick if you love your Christmas reads with a side of heat and craziness.
How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Meghan Quinn
This is peak enemies to lovers holiday drama, and it absolutely delivers. Meghan Quinn balances banter, ridiculous scenarios, and genuine sweetness so well. This one definitely brings the spice, so be prepared. But it’s still a book that feels like a Christmas romcom you’d immediately rewatch.

Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal by Meghan Quinn
I already know this is going to be chaotic in the best possible way. Meghan Quinn thrives during the holidays, and the title alone promises peak festive ridiculousness. I’m prepared for unhinged banter, big feelings, and laugh-out-loud moments. This is the sequel to How My Neighbor Stole Christmas and I am super excited to get back to the characters.
Holiday Ever After by Hannah Grace
I’m excited for something soft, snowy, and atmospheric. I’m expecting cozy vibes, sweet chemistry, and a story that feels like sitting beside a fireplace.
Good Spirits by B.K. Borrison
This one sounds especially interesting to me, as I am a huge fan of A Christmas Carol and am super intrigued by this Christmas ghost romance story.
The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score
I love a messy small town setup, and Lucy Score is such a reliable author for banter, chemistry, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. This looks like it’ll be full of chaotic holiday energy.
