My 2026 Bookish Goals

With a new year means a reset on my bookish goals. While reading goals aren’t for everyone, they are one of the things that help me feel like reading is rewarding. I love having bookish intentions to guide my year, it helps keep it fun, motivating and challenging.

Some of these goals are ones I’ve successfully kept up with for years, while others are carried over from last year that I didn’t quite manage to meet.

Here are my 2026 bookish goals:

1. Read 100 Books

This goal is a familiar one for me. I’ve read 100 books for the past three years, and I’d love to keep that streak going. I like that 100 books pushes me to read regularly while still leaving room for mood reading, rereads, and the occasional slump. Last year, 2025, I managed to make it to 124 books!

2. Complete 4 Bookmark Challenges

One of my favorite reading traditions is creating quarterly bookmark challenges for myself. I call them bookmark challenges because while I am working on the challenge I use my challenge note as a bookmark! These are small, themed challenges that keep my reading interesting without feeling overwhelming.

The goal is to complete four bookmark challenges total—one each quarter.

I love how these prompts gently nudge me toward books I might not pick up otherwise while still being flexible enough to fit my mood.

3. Shorten My Physical TBR

This goal has been haunting me for awhile.

My physical TBR currently sits at 325 books, and while I don’t expect to completely tame that number, my goal for 2026 is simple:

👉 Get it to anything less than 325.

That means prioritizing the books I already own, being more mindful about new purchases, and finally reading some books that have been sitting on my shelves for years. Progress is progress, and even a small dent will feel like a win.

4. Read the Entire Throne of Glass Series

This is another goal making a return from last year.

I wanted to reread the entire Throne of Glass series in 2025, but it just didn’t happen. Instead of letting that feel like a failure, I’m rolling it over into 2026 with renewed motivation.

Final Thoughts

Not every reading goal has to be brand new to matter. Some goals take more than one year, and that’s okay. What matters most to me is keeping reading fun and intentional.

What are your bookish goals for 2026?
